'Brief Tornado' Possible, Storms To Start Weekend In Illinois
Storms could move through northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana Friday afternoon and evening.

ILLINOIS — After 11 confirmed tornadoes touched down in northern Illinois on Wednesday, more stormy weather could be headed towards the Chicago area.
The National Weather Service said severe storms are still possible Friday, with the greatest likelihood between 4 and 11 p.m.
The main threats are damaging wind and hail, lightning and torrential downpours, but "a brief tornado cannot be ruled out," the National Weather Service said.

Winds capable of downing tree limbs and fences are possible, and hail that could dent cars and siding.
Storms could continue through Saturday, bringing a threat of additional flash flooding in some areas that were already hard hit by rain.

NWS put the risk for severe storms at a 2 out of 5, with the highest likelihood of storms between 6 and 9 p.m. for much of the Chicago area.
A "stormy pattern will continue into the weekend," the National Weather Service said, followed by a "cooler and drier lull to start next work week." Most of Sunday will likely be dry until the threat of severe storms in the evening.
