ILLINOIS — After more than 50 years in business, a sub shop shut down after a vehicle crashed into it; now the 82-year-old owner said he's eagerly awaiting reopening.

Plus, an oven fire caused extensive damage to a local pizzeria, and the owners of a soon-to-open restaurant hope it's the catalyst for all types of developments in the area.

Tony Viti, 82, is eagerly anticipating reopening his sub shop, open for more than 50 years in the suburbs, after a car crashed into it four months ago. "It has been tough," Viti tells Patch. "After seeing the damage to the building, we weren't sure if we were going to be able to open within the year, but thankfully we should be open by the middle of February."

Oven Fire At Mod Pizza Causes $11K In Damages

Fire crews were called to the pizzeria just before 8:30 p.m. for a report of smoke in the building. When firefighters got to the scene, they found the fire in and around an oven.
