ILLINOIS – It will likely be a rainy weekend, with the National Weather Service predicting showers developing Friday night, plus lingering showers through Saturday night for Illinois.

Periods of showers and thunderstorms will move through the region late Friday into Saturday.

Soaking rainfall is most likely south of I-80, where rainfall totals over 1 inch, or up to 2 inches in some places, on already saturated soil could lead to river rising and flooding, especially in fields, ditches, yards and creeks, NWS said.
