'A Little Extra Pocket Money' Heading To 600K IL Residents This Summer
Find out if you'll be among the 600,000 residents who are eligible for what Treasurer Frerichs is calling "a little extra pocket money."

ILLINOIS — More than $45 million will be mailed to Illinois residents in the form of a check as part of the state's Enhanced Money Match program, according to reports.
Residents will be notified by letter before the checks are set to arrive in late summer. It's estimated each check will be "around $50," per ABC 7.
Illinois's Enhanced Money Match program is linked to State Treasurer Michael Frerichs Office’s Unclaimed Property Division, which has "$5 billion in assets to return," according to the state treasurer's website.

"The first thing we tell people, is this - the money belongs to you, the check is real, and this is not a scam," Frerichs said in a statement.
He added, "The second thing we tell them, is to cash the check! Who couldn't use a little extra pocket money this summer?"
