ILLINOIS — Kohl's is set to close underperforming stores nationwide Saturday, including two locations in Illinois.

The retail giant announced the closures in January, listing March 29 as the closing date on the webpages of stores planned to close. Saturday will be the last day of business for Kohl's stores in Plainfield and Spring Hill.

The closures of the Wisconsin-based company come as part of a transformation that includes cutting its corporate workforce and ending Amazon returns in some stores.

"While Kohl's continues to believe in the health and strength of its profitable store base, these specific locations were underperforming stores," the company said in a release.

According to the company, all associates were informed of the closures and offered a severance
package or the ability to apply to other open roles at Kohl's.
