'Meaningful Rainfall' On The Horizon Following 'Unseasonably Warm' Temperatures For Chicago Area: Timeline
Meaningful rainfall is holding out as "unseasonably warm" weather hits the area first, according to the weather service.
Another week with summer-like warmth is expected for the Chicago area, as we enter October.
The National Weather Service said the "unseasonably warm and dry weather" will continue all week, as well as lots of sunshine.
"The next opportunity for meaningful rainfall may very well hold off until the second week of October," the weather service said on its Facebook.

Highs will be in the 80s all week, even hitting a high of 91 degrees on Monday. A high of 88 is expected Tuesday, followed by 84 on Wednesday, 86 on Thursday and 89 on Friday.
Wednesday marks the first of October, which is typically a month when temperatures start to cool down for the Chicago area. We also can possibly expect our first snowflakes to fall by the end of the month; Oct. 31 is the normal first day for a trace or more of snow for Chicago, according to weather service data.

Temperature-wise, October normals are usually highs in the upper 60s. On Wednesday, the high is forecast to be 84, but historical data shows that the normal high is 69.4 degrees for Oct. 1.
By the end of the month, normal high temperatures drop into the 50s, with the normal high as 55.9 degrees for Oct. 31, according to weather service data.

MONDAY: Sunny, with a high near 88. Calm wind becoming north northeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.
MONDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear, with a low around 60. East northeast wind around 5 mph.
TUESDAY: Sunny, with a high near 82. Light northeast wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 58. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny, with a high near 78. East wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56.
THURSDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear, with a low around 58.
FRIDAY: Sunny, with a high near 84.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear, with a low around 62.
