Snow Chances After Rainy Start To Week For Chicago Area

"We may see rain mix with or change to snow Wednesday night into Thursday morning, the first of the season," the weather service said.

ILLINOIS — A rainy start to the week is in store for the Chicago area, and we could even see some embedded thunderstorms move into the area on Monday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Mild temperatures are forecast for both Monday and Tuesday, with a high of 62 on Monday and a high of 64 on Tuesday.

"...colder more seasonable weather will arrive mid-week with additional shower chances," the weather service said on its Facebook.

Wednesday will have a high of 49, Thursday a high of 42 and Friday a high of 44.

The question on everyone's mind: when will the first snowflakes fall? The normal first date of measurable snow (.1 inches or more) is Nov. 18.

Well, we may get the answer this week.

"We may see rain mix with or change to snow Wednesday night into Thursday morning, the first of the season," the weather service said.

While it doesn't always snow in November in Chicago, historical data does show that 1.8 inches of snow is average for the month. Temperatures also drop quite a bit on average through November, with an average of 47.6 degrees on Nov. 1, and an average of 35.2 at the end of the month.
