Rain, Temps In The 50s Possible For Chicago Area

Mild temperatures are expected all week, with highs in the 50s possible almost all week.

Mild temperatures are expected this week, with chances for rain especially later in the week, according to the National Weather Service.

High temperatures this week will be in the 40s, with some 50s possible. The high on Monday is 46, 52 on Tuesday, 53 on Wednesday, 56 on Thursday and 55 on Friday, according to the current forecast.

Monday should remain dry, but there is a chance for patchy drizzle and fog near and north of Interstate 80 on Tuesday.

"While some areas could see some drizzle and fog on Tuesday, the best chance for wet weather will come late Thursday into Friday," the weather service said.

Rain will start Thursday afternoon, with chances continuing into the evening and on Friday as well. The weather service said rain could possibly change to snow on Friday night.

"Colder weather is then slated to make a return for the weekend," the weather service said.

MONDAY: Partly sunny, with a high near 42. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

MONDAY NIGHT: A chance of drizzle and snow after 3 a.m. Patchy fog after 9 p.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. South wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

TUESDAY: A slight chance of drizzle before noon. Patchy fog before noon. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. West wind around 5 mph, with gusts as high as 10 mph.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 48. West southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south in the afternoon.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, with a low around 39.

THURSDAY: A 40 percent chance of rain, mainly after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 52.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Rain likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40.
