Severe Storms, Extreme Heat For Chicago Area: What To Expect And When
Expect a heat index over 100 degrees plus humidity later this week in Illinois.
ILLINOIS — Severe weather is possible Tuesday, with another round of storms set to impact the Chicago area on Wednesday, too, according to the National Weather Service.
Also, the weather service is already advising for the potential of hot and humid conditions, and a limited excessive heat risk, starting this weekend through Monday.
Tuesday will also be quite warm, with a high of 91 degrees, the weather service said. Scattered storms are expected to develop late Tuesday afternoon and early evening.

Some of the storms could be strong to severe, with damaging winds as the main threat, according to the weather service. Additional clusters of storms could also redevelop overnight, with some producing torrential downpours.

The best chances for severe weather is north and west of Chicago, most likely between 4 and 10 p.m.

Another round of storms is then possible on Wednesday, ahead of a cold front that will move through on Wednesday evening.
"Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible, especially during the afternoon hours. Damaging winds, large hail and brief tornadoes are possible, in addition to locally heavy rainfall," the weather service said.
Thursday and Friday should then be dry and sunny, with highs in the 80s. However, Saturday will be hot with a high of 94 degrees, and heat indices greater than 100 are possible, the weather service said.
The combination of heat and humidity may make it feel greater than 100 degrees several days in a row, according to the weather service. Overnight lows may only fall into the mid-70s, which would provide little relief.
During extreme heat, you should make sure to stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade as often as possible if you must be outside. Limit strenuous outdoor activities, and never leave any children or pets unattended in vehicles.
