Snow, Below Zero Wind Chill Possible For Chicago Area: NWS

A blustery Friday night could bring wind chills as low as -5 degrees before a chilly weekend.

ILLINOIS — Morning snow accumulation, mainly south of I-80, could make for a slippery commute in Illinois, with 1 to 3 inches of snow falling in some areas, the National Weather Service said.

A special weather statement for Grundy, southern Will, Kankakee and La Salle counties warned of possible snow through the afternoon, and below-freezing temperatures making conditions right for snow to accumulate on untreated roads and sidewalks.

Forecasters were warning motorists to leave extra travel time and prepare for slick travel in some places, with snow possible through 4 p.m. Friday. Snow is expected to end sooner closer to I-80.
