Storms Possible Through The Weekend For Chicago Area

ILLINOIS — Periods of storms are possible starting Friday afternoon and through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service. However, "it won't be a washout as there will be breaks in the rain."
Temperatures look to be in the 80s for most of the weekend, although Friday has a high of 90 degrees. Saturday has a high of 84 and Sunday a high of 80, according to the current forecast.
The first chances for showers and a few storms comes late Friday afternoon.

"Better chances will develop late this evening and overnight," the weather service said. Severe weather isn't expected, but storms could bring gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall.
Periodic storms and showers can be expected through Monday, the weather service said.

"While severe weather appears unlikely at this time, any focused, prolonged heavy downpours may cause ponding on roadways," the weather service said.
Here is a more detailed look at the weather this weekend, per the weather service:
FRIDAY: A 20 percent chance of showers after 4 p.m. Increasing clouds, with a high near 89. East wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south southeast in the afternoon.
FRIDAY NIGHT: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 10 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. East southeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
SATURDAY: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7 a.m., then a chance of showers between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 10 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 81. East wind around 5 mph becoming south in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
SATURDAY NIGHT: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. Southeast wind around 5 mph.
SUNDAY: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. West southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
SUNDAY NIGHT: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7 p.m., then a chance of showers between 7 p.m. and 4 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
