Storms Could Bring Hail, 60 MPH Winds To IL: Here's When It Could Hit
Monday will bring the first chance of storms this week.
ILLINOIS — Increasingly warm temperatures and a chance for showers and storms are expected this week, according to the National Weather Service.
Monday will have a high of 77, and a chance for scattered storms, mainly north of Interstate 80. The weather service said a few storms could be strong to severe, with winds up to 60 mph and hail up to 1 inch in diameter.
Storms are expected in the afternoon hours, mainly between 1 and 4 p.m. for most of the Chicago area.

"Warmer temperatures are expected for the middle of the week and then there will be increasing chances for showers and a few thunderstorms for the end of the week, but there will also be many dry hours," the weather service said on its Facebook.

There is also a chance of storms on Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday. The weather service said there is a level 1 of 5 severe storm risk on Wednesday night; and a limited storm risk Thursday through Saturday.

MONDAY: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 2 and 5 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. Breezy, with a southwest wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
MONDAY NIGHT: Isolated showers and thunderstorms before 7 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 52. West wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 10 percent.
TUESDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 77. West wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear, with a low around 61. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
WEDNESDAY: Sunny, with a high near 88. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 65. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
THURSDAY: A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly after 1 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 83.
THURSDAY NIGHT: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61.
FRIDAY: A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 78.
FRIDAY NIGHT: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63.
