Major Warmup Expected For Chicago Area
Could it dampen the Chicago area's chances of a white Christmas?
Dreams of a white Christmas might be fading with warmer temperatures expected for the Chicago area this week.
The week will start chilly (although warmer than the weekend) on Monday, which has a high of 25 degrees. It will be blustery, and blowing and drifting snow is expected south of the Kankakee River.

The remaining snow will most likely melt starting Tuesday. Temperatures will start to warm on Tuesday, which has a high of 38 degrees, according to the current forecast.
Wednesday will be even warmer, with a high of 40 degrees, and showers/drizzle are expected Wednesday night and could continue into Thursday. Thursday will also have highs in the 40s, "but a strong cold front will deliver another brief period of colder weather Thursday night and Friday," the weather service said.

Friday will have a high of 32 degrees, and should remain cloudy and dry.

MONDAY: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 24. Wind chill values as low as -12. Breezy, with a south southwest wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
MONDAY NIGHT :Partly cloudy, with a low around 16. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
TUESDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 36. South southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. West southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 39. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: A 50 percent chance of rain after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. Breezy.
THURSDAY: Rain likely before noon, then a slight chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 46. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.
