The richest ZIP codes in Illinois include several familiar towns in the Chicago area, according to new census data compiled by IncomeByZipcode.com.
The site analyzed the most recent five-year estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey to identify Illinois's wealthiest ZIP codes based on mean household income.
Each ZIP code included had at least 500 residents and a reasonable margin of error.

The report found that 60043 in the Kenilworth area is Illinois's wealthiest ZIP code, with an average household income of $460,411 and a median household income of $250,001. The area is located about 15 miles north of downtown Chicago, and is home to 2,543 people.
To make the top 10 in Illinois this year, ZIP codes needed an average household income above $249,000, a reflection of rising earnings and property values across the state’s most exclusive communities.
