These IL DMV Locations Expanding Services Temporarily For REAL ID Demand

ILLINOIS — As demand continues to surge for appointments to get a REAL ID now that the deadline has passed, select DMV branches in Illinois will offer walk-in services throughout the remainder of August into the first week of September.

The branches will allow walk-ins on Saturdays between 7:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. through Sept. 6.

  • Chicago West
  • Des Plaines
  • Elgin
  • Joliet
  • Lake Zurich DMV+
  • Mount Prospect DMV+
  • St. Charles
  • Woodstock

Road tests will not be available via walk-in and are by appointment only.

The change comes as Illinois residents continue to scramble to get REAL IDs after the federal deadline on May 7. In March, REAL ID services were expanded to include a DMV supercenter in Chicago and REAL ID Saturdays at some DMV locations.
