Tornadoes, Hail, Damaging Winds Possible Wednesday In Chicago Area

If storms do occur, the threat would be between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Wednesday.

ILLINOIS — Severe weather is possible Wednesday, as waves of thunderstorms are expected across the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service.

"An active spring weather pattern will continue through the end of the week, with temperatures trending cooler into early next week," the weather service said on its Facebook.

Tuesday will have a high of 50 degrees, and waves of showers and storms are expected late Tuesday into Wednesday morning. The strongest storms could have hail up to 1 inch in diameter, frequent lightning and gusty winds, according to the weather service.

There is a significant thunderstorm risk on Wednesday, and those storms could bring damaging winds, large hails, tornadoes and localized flooding.

The weather service said the severe storms on Wednesday are still uncertain because Wednesday morning storms could impact the afternoon and evening severe weather potential.

Rain will be possible through the end of the week, with a high of 62 on Thursday, 59 on Friday and 53 on Saturday, according to the current forecast.
