Big Weather Change Is Coming: Find Out When In Illinois

The week will start with relatively cool temperatures, but warmer temps are on the horizon.

ILLINOIS — For fans of summer and warmer weather, a pattern shift is coming soon, according to the National Weather Service.

First, however, the week will start with "relatively cool temperatures" as well as periods of rain, the weather service said. Rain is expected Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

There is a "chance of sprinkles" after 10 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the current forecast. Then, there is a chance of showers late Tuesday into Wednesday, continuing through the day Wednesday.

New precipitation amounts between 1/10 and 1/4-inch are possible on Wednesday, the weather service. Finally, there is a chance of showers on Thursday after 1 p.m., before the weather appears to dry out for the end of the week.

The high on Tuesday is 72, 68 on Wednesday, and 73 on Thursday.

"A pattern shift toward sunnier and warmer conditions will commence toward the end of the week," the weather service said.

Friday will be the warmest day of the week, with a high of 79 degrees. Temperatures look to get even warmer for the weekend, with a high of 83 on Saturday and 84 on Sunday, according to the current forecast.

Here's the day-by-day forecast:

Tuesday: A chance of sprinkles after 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph.

Tuesday night: A chance of sprinkles before 10pm, then a chance of showers, mainly after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 53. North northeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Wednesday: A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 62. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

Wednesday night: A 30 percent chance of showers before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. North northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday: A 20 percent chance of showers after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 70. North northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 54.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 79.

Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 76.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 55.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 77.

Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 83.
