1 Killed After Becoming Trapped Inside Burning Car
The crash happened at about 9 p.m. Monday in the 22800 block of River Road in unincorporated Marengo.

MARENGO, IL — One person was killed and another injured in a fiery one-car collision near Marengo Monday night, authorities said.
The crash happened at about 9 p.m. in the 22800 block of River Road in unincorporated Marengo, according to a news release from the Marengo Fire & Rescue Districts. When emergency crews arrived, they found a small sedan on fire with a woman still trapped inside.
The vehicle was "resting against a house," fire officials said, and the home had started to catch on fire but fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, according to a news release.

The woman was found inside the car and did not survive, authorities said. A man, who was also in the car, was able to safely get out before emergency personnel arrived at the scene.
No one else was injured in the incident, and the cause of the collision remains under investigation, authorities said.
