2nd Grocery Store Opens At Algonquin Commons

ALGONQUIN, IL — Algonquin's newest grocery store has opened at the Algonquin Commons.

Fresh Market officials held a grand opening on Wednesday at the new 27,000-square-foot store — its eighth location in Illinois. The Algonquin Commons houses another grocery store, Trader Joe's.

The Fresh Market opened near Half-Price books at the Commons.

Local officials including the local Chamber of Commerce, village government, and Northern Illinois Food Bank representatives were on hand to celebrate the grand opening. They joined the Fresh Market team in the ceremonial ribbon cutting, according to a news release.

To celebrate the opening of its newest store, the Fresh Market made a $2,000 donation to the Northern Illinois Food Bank. The Algonquin store will be the fifth The Fresh Market store to make food recovery donations to the food bank, according to thew new release.

The first 500 guests through the door of the new store on Wednesday received a The Fresh Market “Algonquin” reuseable gift bags and were treated to live classical music performed in-store, store officials said.

“The greater Chicago-area has presented us so many fantastic opportunities and we’re excited to bring our brand of impeccable hospitality to our new guests here in Algonquin,” said The Fresh Market CEO, Brian Johnson. “The Fresh Market shopping experience is unlike any other in retail and I truly believe the community will resonate with what we have to offer, from our carefully curated selection of local and global products to our nationally recognized guest service.”

The grocery store is "committed" and offers a wide variety of quality ingredients. The Fresh Marke also has ready-to-eat restaurant selections such as in-house smoked pit BBQ featuring fresh brisket, ribs and pork and hot and fresh pizza made with artisanal crust, sauce made with Italian-grown crushed tomatoes and topped with fresh mozzarella cheese, according to the news release.
