5 Cats Saved During House Fire: Authorities
The home in the 11200 block of Kingsbury Court in Huntley was temporarily uninhabitable, fire officials said.

HUNTLEY, IL — Firefighters saved five cats from a house fire in Huntley over the weekend, authorities said.
The Huntley Fire Protection District was called to the blaze in the 11200 block of Kingsbury Court in Huntley at about 12:50 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release.
Everyone inside the home was able to get out safely before fire crews arrived at the scene. Firefighters located, and rescued, five cats from inside the home. One of the cats was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene, according to a news release from the fire protection district.

All of the cats were expected to survive and to "be fine" following the fire, Alex Vucha, public information officer for the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District, told Patch.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze by 1 p.m. A firefighter was evaluated at the scene for symptoms believed to be related to heat exhaustion, according to the news release.

The fire occurred during a very warm and muggy afternoon, with a heat index in the upper 80s and humidity near 85 percent. No one required transport to a hospital for treatment of injuries, according to the news release.
The fire damage was contained to the kitchen area but the entire home sustained smoke damage, fire officials said. The house has been deemed temporarily uninhabitable until the necessary cleaning and repairs can be completed, fire officials said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
