Algonquin Founders Days Cancelled For This Year
The Algonquin Founders Days festival started in 2004 and typically happens during the last full weekend of July.
ALGONQUIN, IL — Algonquin Founders Days has been cancelled for this year, as committee officials say the festival will return n 2026.
"This was not made lightly, but it’s not a step back—it’s a leap forward! This pause allows us to reimagine, rebuild, and refocus on making Founders’ Day even better for years to come," organizers said in a Facebook post.
While the festival takes a "pause," organizers will work to secure nonprofit status, which will allow Founders’ Day to grow as a community-driven event, which will raise funds for educational scholarships to directly benefit Algonquin students.
