ALGONQUIN, IL — Just in time for the holiday season, Portillo’s has announced that it will open its 46th Illinois location when its newest restaurant opens with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening on Tuesday in Algonquin.

The fast-casual eatery known for Chicago street food – specifically Italian beef sandwiches, Chicago-style hot dogs, and other local favorites – will open to the public at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the newest location, which is at 1801 S. Randall Rd.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for 10 a.m. and will feature Portillo’s VP of Restaurant Support, Michael Portillo. During the ceremony, Portillo’s will also present its charity partners, Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township and Algonquin Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry, with a check.

Once open, guests can expect to enjoy Portillo’s signature menu items such as its Italian beef sandwiches, hot dogs, char-grilled burgers, and Portillo’s famous chocolate cake, officials said. The Algonquin location will be a 7,800-square-foot restaurant and features seating for more than 200 guests, between indoor seating and a seasonal outdoor patio, and double drive-thru lanes. Just as all other traditional Portillo’s, it will include a diner-themed interior, drawing inspiration from the 1950s and 1960s.

The Algonquin Portillo’s is the 81st store in the United States, the chain said.
