Algonquin Village Board President Sounds Off On New Year Goals

ALGONQUIN, IL — As we look back on 2025 and ahead to 2026, Algonquin Village Board President Debby Sosine says she has high hopes for the New Year.

We reached out to Sosine to get her thoughts on what is in store for the city in the coming year. Here is what she had to say.

What is your top priority for the year ahead?

Get a good housing development on the East side in the 2 vacant properties zoned for housing.

And what would make 2026 a "standout" year?

Being able to get a stable tenant in the old Butera Spot in the Towne Centre shopping center

What was a big "game changer" or lesson from 2025 for you that is helping to shape your strategy and decisions in 2026?

The change in developers abilities to put in a quality development in Algonquin

What barriers currently stand in the way of meeting your goals?

There are only challenges, not barriers, for our staff to be able to create the best for Algonquin.
