Beloved Sub Shop Faces Closing Amid Competition With Chain Restaurants: Owner

ALGONQUIN, IL — Algonquin Sub Shop is looking to its customers for support.

The beloved sub shop, which is located at 105 Filip Street in Algonquin, announced in a Facebook post over the weekend that their business may soon need to close.

"I apologize to our regular customers but I'm not sure how much longer we can stay in business. We have lost a lot of business to the chain restaurants and downtown festivals have reduced our summer business," the post read.

The family-owned business has had to dip into personal funds to keep the sub shop going, according to the Facebook post. The owners noted that costs have gone up significantly but the sub shop has opted to keep its prices stable.
