Bullet Discovered, Marlowe Middle School Placed On Brief Lockdown
Students were kept in the classroom while Lake In the Hills police searched the school before deciding that there was no viable threat.
LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — Marlowe Middle School was placed on lockdown for a brief time Thursday morning before Lake In the Hills police there was no viable threat to students and staff, a district spokesman said.
A bullet was found on campus Thursday, which prompted the Huntley Community District 158 school to be placed on a “hold in place and teach” lockdown just before 8 a.m.., spokesman Alex LeMoine told Patch Thursday eveninng.
LeMoine said in an email that classes operated as normal with teachers operating their normal class and students learning safely in classrooms while police cleared hallways and common areas.

LeMoine said that district parents were notified about the lockdown and district officials provided multiple updates about the situation until the lockout was lifted around 10:40 a.m.
Police ultimately decided there was no threat, LeMoine said, and the hold in place was lifted and the school day went on as planned.
