Car Stolen After Algonquin Resident Wakes To Stranger In Home: Police
The alleged burglar entered the home on Sept. 11 and stole the vehicle keys from a kitchen table and fled in the vehicle.
ALGONQUIN, IL — The Algonquin Police Department is investigating a series of crimes, involving a home burglary and vehicle theft this past week, police said.
Police were first called to a report of a resident waking up to a stranger inside their home in the 100 block of Hayes Road on the morning of Sept. 11, according to a news release from the Algonquin Police Department. The male entered the home through an unlocked sliding door, rummaged through cabinets and drawers and removed a set of car keys from the kitchen table.
Around the same time, police were called to the 1200 block of Fox River Drive for a report of damage to a home that is believed to be caused by someone trying to force their way into the residence.

At about 10:30 a.m., the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department was called to the 12000 block of Kingston Place in unincorporated Algonquin for a report of a theft of items from a backyard. The male fled the scene and was pursued by neighbors to the area of Gaslight Drive and Springhill Drive.
Police resounded to the area where they found the stolen as well as a 25-year-old Elgin man, who was lying in the bushes behind a residence in the 1200 block of Springhill Drive. The man was going in and out of consciousness and appeared to be suffering from an unknown medical emergency, police said.

He was transported to Northwestern Hospital in Huntley for medical treatment. No charges have been filed at this time, police said.
