Josephine Beauchane, the boys' mother, said she was with Kayden when he died and "felt his heart stop and watched as he took his last breath," according to NBC Chicago.

"... (I) had to sit there and listen as the doctors told me that they wouldn't be able to save him anymore," she told NBC Chicago.

The fire caused a $350,000 in damage and the home is uninhabitable, according to village officials. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
