Driver Airlifted After Colliding With Walmart In Algonquin: Police
The collision happened early Wednesday. No one inside the building at the time of the crash was injured, police said.
ALGONQUIN, IL — One person was seriously injured after driving their vehicle into a Walmart Supercenter in Algonquin early Wednesday.
The collision happened when a red sedan was headed north on a rear access road from Algonquin Commons at a high rate of speed at about 12:20 a.m., and crossed County Line Road before colliding with the southwest side of the Walmart at 1410 S. Randall Road, according to a news release from the Algonquin Police Department.
The driver was seriously injured and airlifted by helicopter to a level one trauma center, according to the news release. An update on the driver's condition was not immediately available.

There were employees inside the Walmart inside the building at the time of the collision, and none of the workers were injured. The building and the vehicle involved in the crash sustained significant damage, police said.
