Final Spring Hill Mall Store Will Close By April

Kohl's officials have not released an exact closing date for the Carpentersville Kohl's store.

CARPENTERSVILLE, IL — The final retailer at Spring Hill Mall is set to close soon but store officials are mum on when exactly the Kohl's will close its doors for good.

Kohl's announced in January that they'd be shutting down 27 under-performing stores across the U.S., including the Kohl's at Spring Hill Mall and a longtime Kohl's store along Route 59 in Plainfield.

All of the stores are expected to be closed by April, according to company officials. This past week, Taylor Cygan, senior public relations coordinator with Kohl's, said Kohl's officials had no additional information to share regarding the specific closing date for the store at Spring Hill Mall.

Spring Hill Mall officially closed last March, with all the stores inside the once-popular suburban shopping mall shutting down. Only the Kohl's and the Cinemark movie theater remained open and soon, only the theater will be there.

Meanwhile, officials in East Dundeehave plans to begin demolition of the mall in early 2025, according to the Chicago Tribune. It will cost $3.5 million and nine months to completely tear the building down.

The village of West Dundee purchased the main body of the mall from Kohan Retail Investment Group last April for $7 million and had already bought anchor stores that had housed a Sears and a Macy's.

Village officials plan to redevelop the property with a mix of residential, commercial and office uses, according to the article.
