Popular Grocery Store Is Second Grocer To Open At This Local Mall

The new 27,000-square-foot store is located at 2216 South Randall Road in Algonquin.

ALGONQUIN, IL — Algonquin's newest grocery store opened in March, bringing a second grocer to the Algonquin Commons.

The store held its grand opening celebration on March 19.

“The opening was a great success, and we want to thank our all of our new guests for coming out and bringing their excitement and energy to our store," Sam Wroblewski, a spokesman for the Fresh Market, told Patch.

The new 27,000-square-foot store is located at 2216 South Randall Road, which is right next to Half-Price books at the Commons. The store is the eighth Fresh Market location in Illinois.

The Algonquin Commons houses another grocery store, Trader Joe's.

Wroblewski shared some photos from the grand opening in March, providing a look inside the new store.

Local officials including the local Chamber of Commerce, village government, and Northern Illinois Food Bank representatives were on hand to celebrate the grand opening. They joined the Fresh Market team in the ceremonial ribbon cutting, according to a news release.

To celebrate the opening of its newest store, the Fresh Market made a $2,000 donation to the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

The Algonquin store is the fifth Fresh Market store to make food recovery donations to the food bank, according to Fresh Market officials.

The Fresh Market specializes in offering a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as exceptional quality meat and seafood and decadent baked goods, plus prepared meals and uniquely delicious food curated locally and globally.

The Fresh Market also has ready-to-eat restaurant selections such as in-house smoked pit BBQ featuring fresh brisket, ribs and pork and hot and fresh pizza made with artisanal crust, sauce made with Italian-grown crushed tomatoes and topped with fresh mozzarella cheese, according to the news release.
