Home Uninhabitable Following Algonquin House Fire
The Huntley Fire Protection District was called to the home in the 500 block of Tenby Way in Algonquin Sunday evening.
ALGONQUIN, IL — Three people have been displaced following a fire at a two-story home in Algonquin, fire officials.
The Huntley Fire Protection District was called to the home in the 500 block of Tenby Way in Algonquin at about 6:10 p.m. on Sunday, according to the news release from the fire protection district. A neighbor called the fire department after spotting flames coming from the home.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found heavy smoke coming from the home. No one was home at the time of fire, and three residents have been displaced as a result of the fire.

Firefighters located a cat inside the home, which was safely removed and is doing well, according to a news release from the fire protection district.
“The fire had already reached the back of the structure and into the attic when crews arrived,” said Battalion Chief Brian Harders. “Our firefighters worked efficiently to contain the fire and prevent the complete loss of the home.”

The home sustained serious damage and is considered uninhabitable, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Huntley Fire Protection District.
