Hours-Long Manhunt Ends, Police Arrest Murder Suspect: Cops

Police took Osceola Little, 38, into custody following the search Wednesday in the Barrington area.

LAKE BARRINGTON, IL — An hours-long manhunt ended Wednesday night when authorities arrested a man suspected of a murder in Chicago.

Police took Osceola Little, 38, into custody following the search that lead to schools in Barrington going into lockdown and caused traffic backups in the Barrington area throughout the day. As of 8:35 p.m., Little had been arrested, according to police.

At about 2 p.m., authorities first alerted residents to the search when Little was spotted fleeing on foot from Chicago Police from a business near Route 14 and Pepper Road in Barrington, according to a post on the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

At the time, there was a large police presence reported in the area in Lake Barrington at about 2 p.m., authorities said.

Schools in Barrington were placed on lockdown Tuesday amid the search for Little.

According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, the state police and dozen of police agencies assisted in the search and capture of "both suspects."

"We are happy to report the subject we were searching for who fled today in Lake Barrington is in custody. All of our staff is safe, as well as those who assisted us, and both suspects," according to a post on the Lake County Sheriff's Office. "We are grateful for the assistance of the state police and dozens of municipal police partners."
