LITH Man Accused Of Having Sex With Girl, 15

A Lake in the Hills man was charged by federal authorities after he allegedly traveled across state lines multiple times to meet a 15-year-old girl for sex, according to court documents.

Kevin R. Duffy, 35, of Lake in the Hills, was indicted Tuesday by a federal grand jury on four counts of traveling in interstate commerce for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct with a minor.

A grand jury indictment alleges Duffy traveled from Illinois to Kentucky on June 25, July 3, August 5, and October 1 to meet a 15-year-old girl for sex.

The Lake in the Hills Police Department assisted in the investigation.

Duffy has been in law enforcement custody since his arrest on November 18, prosecutors said.

Each count in the indictment against Duffy carries a maximum penalty of up to 30 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

The indictment was announced by United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois John Lausch, Jr. and Emmerson Buie, Jr., who is the Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Field Office of the FBI.

Authorities have requested to the court that Duffy turn over his electronic devices, which include three Apple iPhones, an LG cell phone, two Samsung cell phones and a Dell laptop, according to the indictment.

An arraignment hearing was held Wednesday and Duffy pleaded not guilty to all charges. A judge ordered him remanded to the U.S. Marshals until further notice.
