A Union man was charged with sexually assaulting a young child under the age of 13 and possessing child pornography, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said.

Clinton J. Allen, 31, of the 9900 block of Forest Lane in Union, was charged with five counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and three counts of unlawful possession of child pornography.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said they received a report from a concerned citizen on Friday.

An investigation was initiated by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division which revealed that a man, identified as Allen, had sexually assaulted a child in his care.

Court records show the assault happened in June 2013 and the victim was under the age of 13.

Allen was arrested on Friday and transported to the McHenry County jail.

A McHenry County judge ordered him held on a $250,000 bond. He was released from jail after posting $25,000 bail.

Allen is scheduled to appear in court on Monday to set a date for a preliminary hearing.
