Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Algonquin Crash

The collision happened Friday night at Route 31 and Oakwood Court in Algonquin.

ALGONQUIN, IL — A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision Friday night in Algonquin.

The crash happened at about 7:45 p.m. at Route 31 and Oakwood Court when a sports utility vehicle heading west on Oakwood Court attempted to turn south onto Route 31 and was hit by a motorcyclist headed north on 31, according to a news release from the Algonquin Police Department.

The motorcyclist was taken to Mercy Hospital in Crystal Lake with serious injuries and then airlifted to a level 1 trauma center. The driver and passenger of the SUV sustained only minor injuries and were released at the scene, according to a news release.

Route 31 was closed to northbound traffic from North Main Street to Linden Avenue for about four hours.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact the Algonquin Police Department at 847-658-4531.
