No Challengers In Algonquin Village Board, President Race
Spring elections will see no new faces vying for open village of Algonquin seats.

ALGONQUIN, IL — No challengers will be seeking to unseat current village trustees or the village president in Algonquin next spring.
The deadline has passed for those interested in filling paperwork to run in the spring 2025 election in Illinois. In Algonquin, the following seats will be up for election: village president and the village clerk.
In addition, three village board seats are up for grabs.

Debby Sosine will be seeking a second term as village president, according to information provide to Patch by the village. No one else has filed paperwork to run against Sosine in the race.
Sosine was first appointed to the seat in 2020 after longtime village president John Schmitt died unexpectedly. She was elected as Algonquin's village president in 2021.

Prior to becoming village president, Sosine had been a trustee on the village board and served on the village’s planning and zoning commission and economic development commission. She was also a member of the McHenry County Council of Government’s Transportation Committee.
She's also served in many volunteer and advisory committee roles for Community Unit School District 300 and was a current member of the D300 Foundation for Educational Excellence.
Bob Smith, Jerry Głogowski and Laura Brehmer are all running for re-election on the village board. There are no challengers in the race.
Smith was first elected to the village board in 1993 and is seeking his ninth term on the village board. Głogowski, if re-elected, will have 20 years of experience on the village board.
Meanwhile Brehmer was first elected in 2017 and is seeking her third term on the village board.
The spring election will be held on April 1. Several local faces, including village and school board races, will be up for election.
