Police Seek Driver Who Hit Child With Car, Fled

Police are searching for a driver who struck and injured a juvenile with their vehicle in a neighborhood in Huntley.

HUNTLEY, IL — Police are searching for a driver who struck and injured a juvenile with their vehicle in a neighborhood in Huntley before fleeing the scene.

The Huntley Police Department and Huntley Fire Protection District responded around 10:08 p.m. Saturday to Haligus Road and Grand Canyon Avenue. Huntley Police Department Deputy Chief Amy Williams said officers received a call for a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.

The pedestrian, a juvenile, sustained minor injuries after being hit by the car while in the roadway.

Paramedics transported the girl to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley.

Someone who came upon the crash called 911.

The person driving the car did not stop after the incident and continued northbound on Haligus Road, Williams said.

Police are searching for a white vehicle, unknown make and model, in connection with the crash. A driver description was not known.

Authorities are seeking tips from the public to assist in the investigation, Williams said.
