Police To Use Public Safety Drone To Monitor Sunset Fest

Sunset Festival in Lake in the Hills will run Friday through Sunday.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — The Lake in the Hills Police Department will be a using drone to monitor activities at this weekend's Sunset Festival in Lake in the Hills.

The new public safety drone will help authorities keep an eye out on crowds throughout the event, which will run from Friday through Sunday at Sunset Park, 5200 Miller Road.

"We are committed to the safety and wellbeing of our community during this weekend's Summer Sunset Festival," according to a post on the Lake in the Hills Police Department Facebook page. "To better serve our community and to modernize our public safety efforts, we will be utilizing our new public safety drone throughout the event."

Signs will be posted on the Sunset Fest grounds to let attendees know about the drones, according to authorities.
