Storm Knocks Down Trees, Power Lines In McHenry County
A powerful storm moved through the southwest portion of McHenry County Thursday night.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A powerful storm knocked down trees, blocked roadways and downed power lines in rural McHenry County Thursday evening, fire officials said.
The Marengo Fire & Rescue Districts responded to the southwestern portion of McHenry County at about 6:45 p.m. on Thursday to assist with issues caused by damage from a strong and fast-moving storm. Impacted roadways included: River Road, Millstream Road and Garden Prairie Road in unincorporated McHenry County and Randall Court in Marengo, according to the news release from the fire & rescue district.
ComEd has been notified about the damaged power lines and township crews are actively working to remove the debris. As of 8:30 p.m. Friday, fire crews remain in the field assisting with road closures and addressing hazards related to live power lines.

Residents in the area are urged to avoid any downed wires and never attempt to move or drive over downed lines. If you come across the downed lines you can report it to 911 or ComEd.
