Veterans and Families Invited to Create Books for the Library's Collection

Special day for creating special memories

Veterans and their families are invited to a special “Your People’s Library” workshop at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the Eastgate Branch Library, 2600 Harnish Drive, Algonquin. This is a great opportunity to compile your own 10-page book of memories for the library’s collection!

Attendees can work independently or receive help from a librarian and artist to turn a repurposed book into a collection of reflections about time spent in the military, family/local history, and more. Books are provided free by the Library. Once completed, these books will be cataloged for community and family members to check out.

Artist Jeanine Hill-Soldner, whose paintings are featured this month at the Harnish Main Library, will present a slideshow of her Portraits of American Veterans Project. She will also be on hand with ideas and inspiration to help attendees complete a relative’s story or a story of their own. Algonquin Area Public Library District cardholders from high-school-aged to adult are welcome to register.
