Woman Charged With Attempted Murder In McHenry County Shooting

Aneta Marsek, of Wonder Lake, has been charged in connection with the shooting.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 45-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder in connection with allegations she shot and seriously injured a man Thursday near Wonder Lake.

Aneta Marsek, of Wonder Lake, faces attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated domestic battery and obstructing justice charges in connection with the shooting that happened in the 8900 block of East Tryon Grove Road at about 11:05 a.m. Thursday, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a man with a life-threatening gunshot wound, police said. Marsek also sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

The man was taken to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford in critical condition, and Marsek was flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, according to authorities.

The shooting remains under investigation.
