Coronavirus Rates Creep Down In Alsip, Fall In Crestwood
After a small rise last week, rates are declining in Alsip. Rates continue to fall in Crestwood, but not as steeply as last week.
ALSIP-CRESTWOOD, IL — According to data released Wednesday from the Cook County Department of Public Health, confirmed COVID-19 cases declined five percent in Alsip over the past two weeks. Crestwood, however, has seen a larger 21% drop in confirmed cases over the past 14 days.
Weekly counts and rates are updated each Wednesday, and represent cases reported the previous Sunday through Saturday.
As of Wednesday, Alsip reports 2,474 confirmed cases, with 17 cases reported last week. This makes for a weekly case rate of 88 per 100,000 people, down from 130 last week. Despite a small uptick in cases over the past week, they have begun to decline following a summer surge and late August peak. Alsip cases remain just under the suburban Cook County average.

Crestwood is reporting 1,393 confirmed cases, with just 18 cases reported last week. Crestwood's weekly case rate is 164 per 100,000 people. Crestwood has typically been at or above suburban Cook County averages, but recently its case rate is declining more sharply.
11,887 Alsip residents, or 61.7% of the whole population, have received at least one vaccine dose. 9,501 residents, or 49.3% of the total population, have received both doses.

6,682 Crestwood residents, or 61% of the population, have received at least one vaccine dose, and 5,553 residents, or 50.7% of the entire population, have received both doses.
In Suburban Cook County, there have been 282,870 confirmed cases and 4,732 deaths as of Oct. 7. The weekly case rate is 120 per 100,000 people, and there has been a 2.3% test positivity last week.
