ALSIP, IL — A woman was fatally shot by Alsip police Monday night, after officials say she pointed a gun at officers and threatened to kill them during a confrontation following a series of 911 calls.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office on Tuesday identified the woman as Caroline Grace Fabbrini, 25, of an unknown address.

Officers tracked Fabbrini to Burr Oak Cemetery, 124th Street and Cicero Avenue, around 10 p.m., after she placed several 911 calls with varying reports of gun violence, Alsip police said in a release Tuesday. In one call, the woman told dispatchers she was being chased by an active shooter. In another, she said she had killed a cop and threatened to kill another.

"In each of these 911 calls, the woman threatened to kill a police officer and insisted she was armed with a loaded firearm," Alsip police said.

Alsip police searched the cemetery and ultimately located Fabbrini on the west end. As police approached, they say she fled, scaling a fence and crossing Cicero Avenue.

Police chased Fabbrini and issued multiple verbal commands for her to stop. As police approached her, she reportedly turned and pointed a gun at officers, police said.

"Faced with an imminent threat, one of the responding officers discharged their weapon, striking the female subject," police said.

Officers immediately began life-saving measures. The Alsip Fire Department arrived and continued providing life-saving measures. Fabbrini was taken to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead. She died of a gunshot wound to the torso, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.

A replica Colt firearm was immediately recovered at the scene, police said.

Police determined the incident to be isolated, with no further threat to the public.

The Alsip Police Department has requested the assistance of Illinois State Police, Public Integrity Unit, to investigate the incident, which remains ongoing.
