Multiple Crashes In Same Spot On Highway Slows Traffic Near Elk Grove Village: Police

A crash involving 4 cars during the Monday morning commute resulted in injuries and was followed by a separate crash in the same location.

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL — Two crashes in the same spot on Interstate 290 slowed the Monday morning near Elk Grove Village. Illinois State Police said the crashes occurred at around 5:11 a.m.

The first crash involved four cars, and resulted in a personal injury to one of the drivers. It happened in the southbound lane of I-290 at Biesterfield Road, blocking several lanes of traffic. Police said a white Tesla, black Toyota Camry, black Toyota RAV4 and silver Toyota were involved. The driver of the white Tesla was taken to the hospital with injuries.

The second crash at the same location involved a black Tesla, black Mazda, and a white Ford truck. No injuries were reported in the second crash. Lanes were closed for both investigations, but later reopened.

Police said an investigation continues and didn't indicate whether the first crash caused the second.
