Tinaglia Projected Winner In Mayoral Race In Arlington Heights

Three candidates were on Tuesday's consolidated election ballot to succeed Thomas Hayes as Arlington Heights mayor.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Three candidates were vying to become the next mayor of Arlington Heights in Tuesday's consolidated election. Current trustee Jim Tinaglia was the projected winner, facing fellow trustee Tom Schwingbeck, Jr., and Jon Ridler, executive director of the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce.

Polls in Cook County closed at 7 p.m.

According to the Cook County Clerk's Office, with 52 of 52 precincts reporting, 13,362 ballots were cast, for a turnout of 23.86 percent. The unofficial results of the election are:

  • Jim Tinaglia: 7,165 votes (55.31 percent)
  • Tom Schwingbeck, Jr.: 4,090 votes (31.57 percent)
  • Jon Ridler: 1,700 votes (13.12 percent)

Tinaglia has been an architect and business owner since 1991. He was first elected to the Village Board in 2013. Tinaglia has been endorsed by Hayes for Mayor.

Schwingbeck Jr. has been on the Arlington Heights Village Board since 2019 and previously served as a member of the Village Zoning Board of Appeals. He is owner and president of RLM & Associates, and has over 40 years of engineering and manufacturing experience.

Ridler has been executive director of the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce since 2004.
