Arrest Made In Grocery Store Armed Robbery: Mount Prospect PD

MOUNT PROSPECT, IL — A Des Plaines man has been charged in last week's armed robbery at the El Amigo Carniceria grocery store. Luis F. Chaga-Temich, 32, of the 500 block of West Touhy Ave., has been charged with felony counts of armed robbery with a firearm and aggravated unlawful restraint.

Chaga-Temich, who was released following his arrest Friday, is due back in court Tuesday. The Cook County State's Attorney's Office approved the charges.

Mount Prospect police responded to a report of an armed robbery at around 5:32 p.m. Nov. 19, at El Amigo Carniceria, 403 East Euclid Ave. A man had entered the store, displayed a black-colored handgun, and demanded money from the clerk. He then fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money, according to police.

Police said the store clerk, along with another employee in the store, were not injured. There were no customers in the store at the time of the robbery.

Police were able to identify Chaga-Temich through video surveillance. He was taken into custody outside his home in Des Plaines. A replica firearm and proceeds from the robbery were recovered at the time of Chaga-Temich's arrest.
