Celebrate German Heritage With Oktoberfest In Arlington Heights

The annual affair is scheduled for later this month at the Arlington Heights Historical Museum.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — As summer winds down, traditional fall festivals are happening across the area. With its annual Oktoberfest, the Arlington Heights Park District is excited once again to celebrate German heritage.

Oktoberfest is happening from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 20, at the Arlington Heights Historical Museum, 110 W. Fremont St. German food will be available for purchase from Olde Salem Cafe. There will also be traditional performances from Donau Jugend Dance, live music from Die Kellerknaben and more.

The first Oktoberfest took place in Munich on Oct. 12, 1810, to celebrate the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen, according to Oktoberfest Tours.
