Gas Prices Continue Surging In Arlington Heights, State: AAA
The average price of gas in Illinois is currently $4.98, compared to the national average of $4.59 per gallon, according to AAA.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Gas prices throughout the state continue to go up with no relief in sight.
The average price of gas in Lake County is currently $5.09 per gallon, according to AAA. In Cook County, customers will pay a bit more, with the average price at $5.25 as of Friday.
Gas prices in the Chicago area, at an average price of $5.35 (compared to $4.77 in April), were well above the state average of $4.98 on Friday. In April, the average price of gas in Illinois was $4.37.

The increases are especially sharp considering that the average gas price in Illinois was just $3.24 a year ago. The average price in Chicago this time last year was $3.576.

Nationally, Illinois is well above the average cost of gas, which is currently $4.59 per gallon.
Despite the increasing prices, shopping around in Arlington Heights can lead to some relief at the pump, even if it's minor.
According to GasBuddy, the cheapest gas in Arlington Heights is selling for $5.09 per gallon at Marathon (3 N. Wilke Road).
