Historical Museum Hosts Tea with First Lady Mamie Eishenhower
Wife of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Mamie was America's beloved First Lady from 1953 until 1961.
From Arlington Heights Historical Museum: The Arlington Heights Historical Museum will present a program titled Tea with Mamie Eisenhower in the Historic Banta House, a part of the Arlington Heights Historical Museum, located at 517 Vail St., on Saturday, March 18th at 1:30pm.
Visit with Mamie, portrayed by Ellie Carlson, as she relates her life as Ike’s wife, our first lady, and “just a good friend.” Mamie was America’s beloved First Lady from 1953 until 1961—she was also and Army Wife, Mother and Grandmother and will tell stories about her role as all four. Learn from Mamie about living in Panama and the Philippines between the world wars and about her loving relationship with Ike which weathered horrible rumors and long separations.
Mamie didn’t really cook, but she did make some amazing fudge which Ellie has promised to bring along! Light refreshments will be served. Tickets are $25, $20 for Historical Society members.
