Police said Monday the two men who died last week had worked together for five years at the Dana Point Condominiums complex.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The deaths of two men Friday at the Dana Point Condominiums complex were the result of a murder-suicide. Arlington Heights police said Monday the men were property maintenance co-workers and had worked together at 1519 Central Road for the last five years.
According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, the deceased are Juan Medina, 53, of Palatine, and Steven M. Weigensberg, 53, of Naperville. A subsequent investigation has revealed Medina, a maintenance worker, intentionally shot Weigensberg, the property manager, with a handgun. Weigensberg was struck multiple times in the upper body, resulting in his death. Medina then turned the gun on himself, with a self-inflicted wound to the head causing his death.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe has been set up to support Weigensberg's surviving family. He and his wife, Elizabeth, are the parents of Morrison and Macallan.
"His greatest joy was being a dad — cheering at games, guiding with patience, and filling his children’s lives with love and laughter," the campaign reads. "Now, Mo and Mac face the unimaginable - growing up without their father’s steady hand and boundless devotion."
As of Monday night, the campaign has raised over $30,000 of a $40,000 goal. The campaign's organizer is hoping to "help ease immediate needs and provide stability for his children's future."
A funeral for Weigensberg is planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Congregation Beth Shalom, 772 W. 5th Ave., Naperville. Graveside services will follow at Naperville Cemetery. The funeral can be viewed online at us02web.zoom.us/j/87884111968. The passcode is Beth5786.
